BrightMARKS Raises Bar, Setting New Standards for Print Finishing Industry

(LENEXA, KANSAS) - BrightMARKS of Lenexa, Kansas lets customers "have their cake and eat it, too," by employing revolutionary procedures and sophisticated print enhancements that allow them to increase quality, reduce turnaround time and price competitively.

"To master all three customer service goals simultaneously, we envision giving them everything they could possibly want - a sophisticated product, fast turnarounds, and fair pricing," asserted BrightMARKS Founder David Hutchison. "This vision has guided us in achieving regularly what others can't."

For BrightMARKS, everything hinges on helping customers create visibility in the marketplace, stimulate attraction to their product or service and hold the viewers’ attention. “From the beginning, our goal was to elevate print finishing into an art form — to deliver a level of design and product sophistication that consistently amazes our customers, providing enhanced outcomes they did not imagine possible,” Hutchison said.

“The real challenge,” added BrightMARKS Commercial Trade Sales Manager Tom Latendresse, “was to meet stringent standards without slowing the turnaround time or raising the price. Historically, printers and print finishers have only been able to improve quality by increasing either turnaround time or cost. But we wanted to let our customers have their cake and eat it, too. If we could do that consistently, we knew we’d revolutionize the print-finishing industry.”

Latendresse explained how they’ve achieved this goal. ”We’ve developed propriety business processes for handling customer jobs and invested in state-of-the-art machinery to deliver sophisticated work in less time. Ultimately though, no machine can make us competitive without the right people operating it,” he added. “The BrightMARKS production team brings a vast amount of print finishing talent and experience. We have operators who have been running presses for 25 years. Two of them are authorities in the field, teaching seminars to other press operators on foil stamping and embossing. That kind of team means extraordinary solutions and results through superior operating techniques.”

“The work we did for an internationally recognized art museum demonstrates the value of a team like this,” said Hutchison. “The embossing and overall enhancement of the gift cards we produced for them fit their gift shop’s upscale target audience. The folks there were delighted with the experience and have more than doubled the number of card products they've needed us to produce annually.”

While competitive pricing and print enhancement are key tenets of BrightMARKS’ success, ”Speed-to-completion is critical,“ Hutchison explained. “We strive to consistently beat industry standards, and often succeed.” Hutchison describes working on an oversized, special holiday carton for a Waechtersbach (www.waechtersbachusa.com) point-of-sale display. “We accomplished in three weeks what had previously taken 10, while enhancing the carton at a price competitive with the our predecessor’s.”

Supporting this, Waechtersbach’s Jeff Poe said, “Everyone here noticed the printing was more vibrant than what we got from our previous vendor. We paid the same price, but got it truly better — and faster.”

Justin Farmer, Art Director at Salva O'Renick Advertising Agency (www.uncommonsense.com), appreciated their turnaround capabilities. “We gave BrightMARKS a brochure job for one of our key clients. The day before their Florida conference, I discovered a mistake we’d made in the copy. Alarmed, I called BrightMARKS to get it changed and delivered before the conference started. I don't know how, but they pulled it off — 5,000 brochures corrected, reprinted, folded and shipped out to Florida in 36 hours!”

Hutchison shared a similar success story, about the first time Factory Direct Appliance (www.kcfda.com) turned to BrightMARKS. “They needed a brochure for the Parade of Homes tour, but the event came up on them before they realized they had no literature to put in any of the homes. With less than 48 hours to spare, we put together a very nice, four-color brochure for them. Of course, we like to have proper scheduling built in to each project, to make sure everything’s absolutely perfect. Still, it's exciting to know we can give customers a quality, sophisticated piece, even when a print emergency arises.”

“What it boils down to is: keeping our customers happy by giving them returns on their print investments — more quality than they could imagine, in less time than they expect, and at a competitive cost,” said Hutchison. “That’s what makes us revolutionaries in this business.”
